Occupation ceilings 2015-16

The 2015 – 2016 occupation ceilings for points based skilled visa invitations and applications have been released. An occupation ceiling is a limit on the number of invitations that can be issued through SkillSelect each fiscal year.

An occupation ceiling is applied to:

 Skilled independent visas

 Skilled regional sponsored visas

 Skilled or business state or territory sponsored visas

Notable changes for this current program are Accountants down 2953 places, Registered Nurses decreased by 1170 places and Dentists were removed from the list. The largest increases were for Metal Fitters and Machinists with an extra 1254 places and Plumbers with an extra 666, Panel beaters and Cabinetmakers have been added to the list.
